Enroute to the racetrack I rant about toasters. Yes, I realize a toaster is a strange thing to inherit. I also talk about a failed career endeavour from my past, you’ll have to listen to the end to find out.

Sorry that the audio gets weird after the raceday portion, I have heavily enhanced it to make it “hear-able”, but I might sound like an alien has inhabited my body.

  1. My grandmother also had a toaster like that. They don’t make ’em like that anymore. That’s a toaster that means business. And you’re right that toast making has degraded over the years. My biggest complaint with Tim Horton’s is their idea of toasted. They run a bagel through a toaster that barely warms the bagel, let alone toast it. Even when I ask them to run it through twice, it makes little difference. I want it toasted, damn it! But then, I think something is toasted when it’s almost smoking.

I’m a fan of over-cooked bread too. My favourite is an “enthusiastically” toasted piece of bread with peanut butter on it. I love the combination of charcoal and peanuts.
