    Hey Fey!

Good discussion of gasolines! I absolutely agree with Laughing Budda on using the highest octane blend for scooters. I have an Aprilla that actually calls for such a blend. I have noted a significant performance problem on another bike I used previously when I didn’t use premium, and having learned from that experience, I’ve never used anything else in my Aprilla.

In my Honda CRV however, I never use anything but regular. The cost is too great, and the manufacturer does not require anything other than regular. I’m not too choosy about whether it contains ethanol or not. Most of the regular in the southern US contains up to 10% unless you go to great effort to finds some that doesn’t. About every 5 tanks or so, I put in a bottle of gas treatment to keep things clean. I’m not convinced that there is any better detergents in premium fuel. At least there isn’t anything that I can’t do better by using an additive used on a semi-regular basis.
